Stanley H. Calkins Inc. was founded in 1921 by Mr. Stanley H. Calkins. The business was located on Remsen St., Cohoes, NY. In 1923, Mr. Calkins hired Rose (Marra) Gaynor to run the agency. Rose purchased the agency from the Stanley Calkins estate in 1957. In 1965, John J. Gaynor Jr., son of Rose, entered the agency. The second generation helped operate the agency. Still located on Remsen St. in Cohoes, NY. In 1970, James (Ned) Gaynor entered the agency—now with its third generation. John J. Gaynor III entered the agency in 1980. Rose retired in 1985, and the agency has been run by both Ned and John Gaynor since. The fourth generation, Melissa R. Gaynor, was hired in 2001.

Our agency moved to Waterford, NY, in 1994, where we combined the Dwight R. Lowther Agency and Stanley H. Calkins Inc. Agency.

We have always been a local business. As such, we have always been active within our community. We have sponsored Cohoes Little League since 1965.
